On September 4th, 2023, from 16:00 to 20:00, the city of Dresden was more colorful! The communal picnic, Dresden isst Bunt, gathered for its 7th edition over 600 meters of tables in one of the most iconic places in Dresden, at the Augustusbrücke and Schlossplatz. There, local institutions invited the local community to celebrate diversity and internationality. The tables of each institute were filled with typical food brought by their members and made by the members themselves. It was a huge food-sharing celebration.
The Cluster of Excellence Physics of Life (PoL) supports this cause. In our institute, we gather outstanding scientists from all over the globe, and we support the promotion and valorization of each culture. This year, the PoL table was located at Schlossplatz, close to other TU Dresden participants. Together with our partners Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB) and Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering (DIGS-BB), we introduced groundbreaking research to the local community, and we did it in the best way possible – with food!
It is our duty, as a scientific institution privileged to be at the forefront of science, to embrace important human causes such as diversity. For PoL it is essential that our members, regardless of their cultural background, can pursue their curiosity. Not only within PoL, but we also want to encourage society and serve as a model in addressing social issues.
