PoL Supporting Programs

The following are PoL internal programs, dedicated to supporting researchers at PoL achieve their full potential.

Fellowship Incentive Program

The PoL Fellowship Incentive Program (FIP) rewards the excellence of our early career researchers. Applying for competitive fellowships is an important skill. In recognition of this, PoL supports PhD students and postdocs from PoL core groups who are successful in applying for competitive fellowships with additional funds towards their research. Faculty Mentoring Program

Becoming a junior group leader is an exciting yet challenging endeavour. In recognition of this, Junior PoL PIs are supported by the Faculty Mentoring Program. Junior faculty have the opportunity to meet at least once per year with a senior PoL PI as well as an external mentor who can advise on topics regarding the management of research projects, mentoring of group members, and advice on career advancement. PoL Grants

The following are grants available to the PoL network, dedicated to promoting cutting edge interdisciplinary research.

Nucleation Grant

PoL Nucleation Grants support the initiation of new innovative projects and collaborations between two PoL member groups that support and further the aims of the Physics of Life initiative as outlined in RAs 1–6. Nucleation grants provide funds to explore new ideas and acquire preliminary data to support applications to third party funding bodies. Preference is given to applications involving at least one core PoL group, helping to integrate new PoL core groups into the Dresden research campus. Networking Grant

PoL Networking Grants support the initiation of new innovative and collaborative projects that support and further the aims of the Physics of Life initiative as outlined in RAs 1–6.
