With PoL researchers at the Physics of Life exhibition

As part of the science festival SPIN2030, PoL researchers will take you on guided tours through the Showcases of Research exhibition on Physics of Life.

Showcases of Research: Physics of Life

How does life come about? How does a complex organism develop from a tiny egg cell? And how can salamanders even regrow lost limbs? These and other questions are being investigated by scientists from physics, biology, and computer science at the Cluster of Excellence Physics of Life at TU Dresden. Together, they are investigating the physical laws that enable the structure and development of living matter in molecules, cells, and tissues.

The hands-on exhibition Physics of Life in the Showcases of Research invites visitors to experiment with magnetic fluids, phase separation, and DIY molecules. Spectacular microscopy videos allow visitors to experience how life is organized at the smallest scale, how a cell divides, or a fish embryo shapes itself. Large-scale illustrations show how the interplay of molecules, cells, and tissues shapes an organism, what role chance and genetic information play in this process, and how physical forces give shape to an embryo — physics that is!

SPIN2030 – The Science Festival

Just as the English word SPIN stands for rotation and movement, research in Saxony is a component and often a pioneer of non-stop progress: whether in microelectronics or robotics, AI and quantum computing, in biotechnology and genetics, pharmaceuticals and cancer research, in the fields of energy and hydrogen, materials research and lightweight construction. We want to show this with the campaign “SPIN 2030. Science State Saxony" – and direct the spotlight on the performance of our university and research landscape. We want to spread the passion: across Saxony, Germany and the world, and inspire enthusiasm for science “Made in Saxony”.
