Our next application window for early career researchers to join PoL through an Excellence Postdoctoral Fellowship will open from April 1. until May 20!

The Physics of Life (PoL) Excellence Postdoctoral Fellows (EPF) Program is now open for applications. The application window will run from 01 April to 20 May 2026 and all are welcome to apply!

The EPF Program offers outstanding early-career researchers a unique opportunity to pursue independent, interdisciplinary research within a highly collaborative environment. EP Fellows design and lead their own projects while working across at least two PoL research groups at the interface of physics, biology, and computational science. If you are someone with a PhD, working at the interface of biology and physics, and interested in progressing in their academic career, the EPF Program is the perfect fit! 

Successful applicants will benefit from:

  • A 3-year fully funded position, with the possibility of a one-year extension
  • Core research funding covering travel, open access publishing, and project costs
  • Scientific independence to develop and execute original research ideas
  • Mentorship from at least two PoL Principal Investigators
  • Access to state-of-the-art facilities and a broad network of leading research groups
  • Opportunities to teach, co-supervise students, and apply for additional funding

In addition, fellows are supported by a dedicated in-house team assisting with international affairs, grant applications, and science communication.
