This week, PoL attended the annual Spring Meeting, organized by the Condensed Matter Section (SKM) of the German Physics Society (Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft). On the main campus of TUD Dresden University of Technology, physicists from across Germany and the globe converged for a week of exciting talks, exhibitions, posters, and more. Through an exhibition booth held for 3 days of the conference, PoL engaged with a diverse audience of physicists, from students, to postdocs, professors, and industry leaders, sharing our passion for biophysics.
Several PoL PIs captured audiences with their research talks throughout the conference. These included Prof. Jan Brugués, Prof. Benjamin Friedrich, and Dr. Elias Barriga. At the exhibition booth, volunteers distributed numerous materials to visitors, including new research booklets, flyers about careers, and the highly popular PoL Comics, which illustrate complex biophysics concepts in a fun and accessible way. To showcase a taste of our research, we brought our Apple Vision Pro devices, loaded with cutting edge microscopy data and visualized in the .XR application developed by our colleagues at HZDR. Data from the Brugués lab at PoL was introduced to curious visitors, and proved a highlight of the booth.
Many thanks to all of our PoL volunteers for a successful conference visit!
